Fairfield, CT homeowner Al contacted Brown Roofing for a roof replacement after discovering a leak on his aging 20+ year-old roof. Inspector Geoffrey performed a detailed roof inspection and walked Al through our materials and installation process. For this roof the shingles were still in decent shape but the customer wanted a whole new roof replaced so we of ripped up the old one replaced the decking layer and layed down new shingles along with underlayment and Ice and Water. There was damages and moss growth around their chimney so we repaired the area.

For this job, our team took care of this roof that was suffering from color fade and shingles gaps. Over time shingles wear down and can shrink in size causing gaps to form which allows water to leak into the home.

The first step in this replacement process is to rip up the old shingles and take a closer look at the decking layer below. Once the shingles were removed and we could see the decking layer it was obvious that it needed to be replaced due to water damage. This damage consisted of rot and mold which could be very dangerous to the homeowner. Due to this we ripped up the plywood and replaced it with brand new ¾ sheets. Next, we laid down decking tape, Sealeron Ice and Water, and a synthetic underlayment. These layers help protect the roof as well as insulate the home. Finally, we can install the shingles and this homeowner chose our IKO Dynasty Granite Black Shingles. 

Now that this homeowner has a brand new roof they can be confident knowing that their home will be safe and dry for a lifetime.
