Steve in Fiskdale, MA, reached out to Klaus Larsen Roofing after noticing a leak coming from his ridge vent. Our inspection found that the existing ridge vent and shingles had worn down over time, allowing water to seep in. To fix the issue, our crew replaced the ridge vent and installed new ridge shingles across all ridges on the property. We used SmartRidge II, a rigid, corrugated plastic ridge vent with an external baffle that provides maximum airflow and superior weather protection. For this project in North Windham, CT we tore off two layers to be recycled, and carefully took down a satellite dish. All rotted plywood was replaced, as well as the swan board decking. A water repellent underlayment was installed with three rows of Ice & Water shield, to inhibit any water from getting in under the shingles. For ventilation, Smart Vent eave vents were added along the eaves and garage of the house.
