Located in Horace, ND, Mr. Grant’s 1,800-square-foot, single-story home sits on a spacious ¾-acre lot and needed a complete roof replacement. Years of exposure to extreme weather had taken a toll on the existing asphalt shingles, prompting Mr. Grant to reach out to Vita Roofing for expert assistance. The process began with a free, no-obligation roof inspection, where the condition of the roof was carefully evaluated.

After the inspection, Clay from Vita Roofing walked Mr. Grant through several roofing options and recommended a Class 3 impact-resistant shingle to provide added durability against North Dakota’s demanding climate. This recommendation ensured the new roof would offer enhanced protection while maintaining a clean, attractive appearance.

The Vita Roofing crew removed the old roofing materials down to the decking, replaced any compromised wood, and safeguarded the home’s foundation with protective tarps. Two layers of water and ice shield, synthetic underlayment, aluminum drip edges, updated flashings, and proper venting were installed before finishing the project with IKO Dynasty shingles in Charcoal. The result was a high-performance roofing system that improved curb appeal and delivered lasting peace of mind.

Jack went out to a home in West Fargo, ND, to do a complete roof inspection. Mitchell called Vita Roofing after a major hail storm. Due to the size of the hail and the damage it caused, Mitchell needed to have his roof checked out to confirm the extent of the damage. 

After the inspection, it was confirmed that the roof sustained considerable injury to multiple shingles. The hail strikes left 1" dents in the asphalt. Once the shingle is compermised, it is important to have it replaced. If not, water will seep into the areas where the hail left the marks and will cause deterioration of the roofing underlayment and decking.

If he decided to only repair the damaged sections of asphalt shingles, it would only be a matter of time before the roof would need to be completely replaced. He agreed to a full shingle replacement. He decided to install IKO Nordic top-tier class 4-rated shingles. This asphalt shingle is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions & is impact resistant. This will give his home a better chance to survive future hailstorms. 

When Marcus from Harwood, North Dakota, noticed his roof showing signs of age and storm damage, he knew it was time to call in the experts. After researching trusted contractors, he contacted Vita Roofing to discuss replacing his roof with a durable metal system. During the inspection, the team confirmed that the existing roof had reached the end of its lifespan. They also noted the steep pitch of the roof, which required special attention in both the estimate and the installation process to ensure a safe and efficient project.

The replacement started with the roof deck and sheathing, the plywood layer that provides structural support. After preparing the deck, the crew installed a protective underlayment designed to act as a barrier against moisture and ice. At the lowest edge of the roof, eave trim was installed over the underlayment to function as a drip edge, guiding water safely away from the structure. With the base layers in place, the installers carefully positioned the seamless metal roofing panels, overlapping each one so the underlap remained beneath the overlap side to ensure water-tight performance.

To finish the system, the Vita Roofing team installed gable and rake trim along the sides of the roof to seal the exposed edges. Butyl tape was used for additional sealing, while foam closure strips were applied with sealant at both the eaves and ridge to prevent insects and rain from entering beneath the panels. The final step was installing the ridge cap across the roof’s peak, followed by securing everything with heavy-duty fasteners placed strategically to withstand strong winds. The completed metal roof not only enhanced Marcus’ home visually but also delivered the long-term durability he needed in North Dakota’s demanding climate.

When Chuck first reached out to Vita Roofing, he wasn’t just looking for a new roof; he was looking for peace of mind. After years of weather wear and a few troubling leaks, his steep 9/12, two-story roof had reached the end of its lifespan. On installation day, the crew carefully set up tarps around the home to protect landscaping and contain debris before removing the old roofing system down to the decking. After a full decking inspection, any soft or rotten OSB, CDX, and 1x6 boards were replaced with new 7/16" OSB sheathing. To fortify the roof against the elements, they installed two rows of ice and water shield along the eaves and one row in the valleys, followed by synthetic underlayment across the remaining surface. Aluminum 1-3/4" T-style drip edge was placed along the perimeter to ensure proper water runoff.

The transformation was completed with IKO Dynasty Class 3 Impact Rated shingles, featuring built-in algae resistance, an upgraded tar strip, reinforced nailing strip, and increased thickness for superior durability. Starter strips were installed on all rakes and eaves, ring shank coil nails were used for higher wind resistance, and plastic cap nails secured the underlayment. The crew installed new pipe boots, flashings, OmniRoll ridge venting for optimal airflow, and heavyweight IKO Hip & Ridge shingles for long-lasting performance. After detailed cleanup and a 15-yard dumpster haul-away, including chimney removal, Chuck’s home didn’t just look better; it was built to withstand years of harsh weather ahead.
